PRESS RELEASE

Work has been completed on the replacement of the entrance ramp with new railings and a handrail to Dursley Community Centre in Rednock Drive, Dursley.   This will make entry to the Centre safer and easier for persons with walking difficulties and particularly for users of wheelchairs and persons with pushchairs.   The ramp is compliant with current regulations regarding gradient and has a level area at half way.  A new handrail has also been installed on the building.

The project was funded by grants from The Gloucestershire Environmental Trust with Landfill Communities Fund provided by Cory Environmental and Awards for All Big Lottery Fund.  Donations were received from Dursley Rotary Club, Dursley Probus 91 Club, Dursley Inner Wheel, Dursley Lions, Renishaw, The Friday Lunch Club, Uley A.F.C., Dursley & Cam Society and Wings and Wheels.

The Association has also installed new entrance doors to give members with disabilities easier access into the Centre building via the new ramp.

Committee member responsible for the project Ralph Darby says “it provides a much  safer and easier access for members and visitors to the Centre with mobility problems, more people will be able to attend events”.
